hello guys, greetings from Ballarat, El and I took a road trip, thus far we have experienced
Christmas songs sung in an Reggae style, automotive disaster ( number 2 ) and the beautiful lake on which the Olympic rowing took place on has dried up !
I am not complaining - far from it we spent the afternoon at a wildlife reserve and hand feed kangaroos, we got within inch's of koala's and even saw a 15 foot croc. We have the delight of
Sovereign Hill tomorrow and we shall fill you in.
So whilst Mum, Simon and Rachel hit the snow covered Chicago Christmas market El and I will make the most of the sunshine and go and enjoy a beer or two before dinner
Love to you all xx
The battery went flat on the car, but it was all OK because a lovely man and his dad swung by with a set of jump leads... Brilliant luck!

Hi Leah & El
This post brought back loads of wonderful memories for me. I visited Ballarat and Soverign Hill several times with my Mum & Dad when I was younger. Can you still pan for gold? They used to have lots of people dressed up in colonial clothes working there. Hope it is still as good and you have a wonderful time.
Happy Christmas to you both.
Love Julie, Mark, Benjamin & Samuel x
So glad that you too are having similar luck to me with cars these days - not all that fun is it?
There are pictures of me very close to Kangaroos when I was tiny but very sadly I don't remember them at all. I remember the sink my Mum used to put me in when I was having a paddy though!
Missing you a lot from Devon - drove through Sidmouth in another of my genius get-lost-on-the-way-to-the-place-you've-always-lived disasters.
Have been getting messages but can't hear the phone very well. So nearly Christmas.
Love xx
Yes, we did pan for gold, it was brilliant, the people were all dressed up and the shops and surroundings were full of people in character. I imagine it must have been a wonderful as a child. They have added this underground tour where you take a tram and then a train and explore part of a real mine and then also explore the mine which they have created to show the conditions athat the workers were exposed to. It was a really refreshing experience it was 30 degrees top side and about 15 underground!! the heat is really unexpected after the 4 weeks of near constant rain!
We actually did quite well at the gold panning and have come away with the gold.. It really was a great day, did you ever visit the wildlife park?
